Nice photo, do you still live in Invergordon? Didn't Jim Maclennan also live on the High Street?

Hi Harry, no I live in Tain now, though I spent the years between 1993 and 2007 in Torquay and Derby before moving back to Easter Ross.
Jim did indeed live on the High Street at no 24. Until the late 1970’s

Yes, Harry, my great grandparents James and Helen Maclennan are first shown as tenants of 24 High Street in 1925 on the valuation roll, so my grandad would have been there too until his marriage in 1929, along with their other brother, Allan, and sister Evelyn, who both later married. My father lived there for a time too, when his brother Bill became ill with a contagious disease. I’m hesitant to say Scarlet Fever or TB as I’m not sure what it was. Jim never married and he later bought the house sometime after 1940 and lived there on his own after his parents died, his dad in 1950 and his mum in 1955, until his 70’s when he became too I’ll to live on his own, and was moved to the Lawson Memorial Hospital in Golspie, to be nearer to his sister Evelyn who lived in Brora. Jim passed away in 1980 and the house was sold thereafter.

Hi Jackie - lovely photo. I too lived at number 15 High Street next door to Sandy & Nellie McLellan. I think it was 1961/1962 we moved there. Would this be right - had you and your family moved by then?

Hi Heather yes we did move around 1962. We moved to Queen Street.

I remember Margaret, her brother James was in my class in primary. The Anderson family lived in a house across the lane from the now Job Centre now demolished. Maureen Coghill lived in the three storey house on the other side of the Job Centre but I think the family emigrated.

Yes Liz. we lived in 45 High Street shared the back garden with the houses on the side of ours at Park Lane, we then moved to Queen street.
