Bottling PlantI received this photo a few years ago from Babs Brandon (MacLean) showing lads working at the State Control Bottling Plant, situated behind the Royal Hotel.
I can identify two in the photo: front left is my uncle, Duncan MacDonald (Dinkie), Caley Hotel. Dinkie joined the Merchant Navy during the war and was on Arctic Convoys. He spent most of his working life at sea.
Beside him was his friend, Jimmy Mackie (was he related to Babs?). Jimmy was also in the Merchant Navy and at one point jumped ship in Australia. I wonder if he settled there or came back to the UK?
Can anyone identify the three lads at the back?
I estimate the photo to be circa 1938.
