Hi Laura, great pics. I knew your dad played the Sax, didn't know he also played the bagpipes or that Auntie Eve played the violin though.
Where did they all get their musical talent I wonder...did your grandparents (my great grandparents) have musical ability, do you know? I don't know of my grandad playing an instrument though, must have bypassed him! - preferred a dram.

Jackie, I only knew that he played clarinet; he played in a band here called Sybil Traceys Showband. He played all over the North of Ireland and was in great demand. It was a surprise to us that he played the bagpipes, just like you we have no musical talent at all. I don't know if the grandparents played, I don't remember them. Imagine Uncle Jim in a dance band, what a surprise!

Haha! yes, I knew Jin had a band but knowing what he was like, when we were young, it is surprising - can hardly imagine him as a swinger (in the dance band sense that is!).

Jim was a very talented and versatile musician and his band could certainly "swing it" musically. Quicksteps were very popular then and when he played he could "get the joint jumpin' " as they said in those days. His music gave all those "twinkle-toes" a chance to strut their stuff. Not a man to be underestimated!

Yes Gordon, we knew he was talented and versatile musically. though to us, his niece/grand niece, he didn't show the fun side to his character probably because he was so much older. From as long as I can remember, he came to our house for lunch every Sunday after church.
