Provost MacDonald I know a bit about, but who was Alice MacCandie. Why is a naval vessel named after her in WW1

The corrugated sheeting suggests the location was Cromlet Camp, the infantry training depot where the 3rd Camerons were based at the time.

I am researching John Macdonald JP and would appreciate any information. All I know is that he was Provost from 1901-19 and was Liberal candidate for Ross & Cromarty in 1922. A date of birth and death would be helpful.
