Harry, this area has been backfilled to quite a large degree - started back in the early ’70s. This is where most of the brickwork surrounding the oil tanks was dumped when that operation was ongoing. It also contains the old concrete jetty that went East from the middle pier. It’s all quite tidy really and, yes, I can remember the benches as well.
