The Invergordon Archive

It was unfortunate that the smelter did not survive, but what was even more unfortunate and unforgiveable really, was the loss of prime agricultural land.
The Invergordon area was renowned for the quality of crops grown on the fertile fields.

Lovely to see these new pictures of the smelter, I worked on the construction of the camp, the smelter and the jetty, I eventually got a job with British Aluminium 1977 to closure, in the cast house and ended up as a casting operator, many fond memories and great camaraderie.

I think what would be good for Inver-g is a food processing plant, people always need food and permanent employment,

Hi Harry, there is some engineering sheds a scrap yard a coal yard and probably a few other small industrial units plus a wood pellet production plant for biomass heating, see picture #1243, then take a look at picture #480, it's more or less taken from the same spot.
