William and Robina Macrae

William (Willie) is a relative of my grandmother Mary Ann Macrae wife of Farquhar Dunn. A cousin of mine from Collingwood Ontario is doing family research and sent me this picture.

William and Robina were born in Invergordon. Robina was the governess at Invergordon Castle and William was a key operator in the Invergordon Telegraph Office. They emigrated to Canada in 1906-07, first William and then Robina.

In Canada, William was the Chief Engineer of the power plant at Mcgill University in Montreal Quebec. They made 2 trips back to Invergordon, one in 1952 and the other in 1955.
They stayed with Annie and Facky Dunn at 3 Outram Street on both visits. I remember them well and when I emigrated to Canada in 1959, I stayed with them in Montreal Quebec, before moving on to British Columbia. I find this picture intriguing because I too became a telegraph operator here in Canada and I also became an Engineer at Kelowna General Hospital in Kelowna BC.... quite a coincidence..
