A photo from my family album: this is a picture of Catherine Ross (nee Urquhart). She was born 26th Jan 1863 at Boner, Sutherland. She married Donald Ross 17th June 1892 at Shandwick. They worked on Balitraid Farm until her husband Donald died. Then she went to live with her son Kenny Ross in a cottage at Saltburn. She was known for wearing a purple velvet hat. She died on 5th march 1934 at the bungalow, Saltburn, and is buried in a grave next to Kenny at Kilmuir Easter churchyard. Kenny went on to marry Annie Moir.
