Interesting, Alan, what would be the purpose of this experimental tunnel? - and why was it abandoned?

Harry, the aim of the project was to create oil storage caverns built into Nigg Hill but it never got beyond this initial tunnelling exercise. Not entitrely sure why it didn't proceed, cost, geology, alternative storage opportunities perhaps.

Alan, do you happen to know the extent of this particular tunnel? I am aware that there are others at Nigg but this one has always been a mystery to me.
