Invergordon from the Cromlet

This postcard is unused but on the back it has advice that the postage stamp should be a half-penny. This may give some clue as to how old the picture is!
I am not sure if the image is a hand coloured photograph or a very good painting, the latter I think. I can see no trace of the railway cutting so perhaps it is a painting which pre-dates the railway?

The card was published by "MacPherson Brothers of Invergordon,Tain & Beauly" and was printed in Germany. My guess is that the actual image is mid 19th century but was produced in the early 20th?
