Castle Road, Invergordon

This tree lined road is the lower end of Castle Road in the Autumn of 1969. This was a very quiet and popular walk for locals at that time. There was virtually no traffic and the magnificent beech trees which lined the road carried the carvings of many love declarations from over the years. An army pillbox can be seen in the picture. At this time there were also the remains of tank obstacles dotted about. No doubt these were designed to slow down progress to Inchindown oil depots in the event of an invasion.
