Commander GA Elwin OHM at Invergordon, on right, welcomes Earl Mountbatten. The nature of the event is not known, nor is the date.

Comments:
I think Elwins title OHM should read QHM (Queens Harbour Master)
Assuming QHM is right, and not KHM, that would date the pic after 1953.
The pic is obviously taken on one of the football pitches at the Naval Recreation Grounds - I wonder if Mountbatten arrived by helicopter on to the football field they are standing on here?

It should be Commander J. A. Elwin not GA; the date is around 1955/6. My father took up the position of QHM in 1954. Mountbatten did arrive by Helicopter which was a big event; I believe it was a Whirlwind. It made a lot of noise I remember. It may have coincided with the summer visit of the Home Fleet.
