The Invergordon Archive

There was also a boys club in Invergordon, perhaps some will remember. It was located in a small cottage on Clyde St close to the west end. The person that ran it was Eddy Edmunds (spelling). He also taught athletics in the Joss St hall; this would be in the 1950s.

Hi Harry, it was Eddie Edmeades who ran the Boys Club; he used to put on a Boxing Show in the Joss Street Hall.

Hi John, thanks for the correction..Eddie was quite dedicated to the youth back then, he was a real fitness buff and put us through our paces...we all respected him...I remember boxing at the Joss St hall...

I don't know who is in this photo other than my sister Moreen. She is right in the middle and showing just one eye. Seeing these photos of her bring happy sad times as she didn't live long enough to enjoy this site. She would have been able to tell so much about the people we see in in the older photos. I know she loved the Girls Club.

Lady second from the left is Christina Fraser nee Mackenzie, my Mum. She often spoke to me about the Invergordon girls club.

Lady second from the right is Renee McKenzie. Renee was my teacher at Alness Primary School
