This is the present view of the old Highland Games field, with the flagpole still there, and what remains of the avenue of Lime trees. By comparing this picture with picture #122 it is possible to see where the Castle once stood.
Only about 75 metres of the avenue remains as it has been replaced by the South Lodge housing estate. What a feature it would have been had this been retained!

Just behind where this photo was taken is Caberfeidh Drive bungalows. My family moved there in 1983 from Dundee. I spent most of my childhood in those woods.

I spent many years in the late 70s playing in the Major's woods with my friends. Got caught once playing in the walled garden and told off! Loved climbing trees and looking for conkers near the castle ruins, and playing in the rhododendron bushes near the monument. Happy days.
