Old Lorry-Mounted Crane

This old vehicle was at the Port's Service Base recently. The sticker on the side says 'Caledonian' and the registration number 162 HVD suggests that it was registered in the early 1960s.
Does anyone know the history of this vehicle?

The vehicle was known as a Hydrocon, the Caledonian refers to Caledonian Towage.

This crane still works today but is now owned by Davie Woods of Rosskeen Engineering. The whole town hopes he can one day donate it to the local museum.
