A very naval scene in the Firth. In the foreground is Middle Pier (?) while Admiralty Pier is to the centre left.
The date is unknown.

Comments:
The "liberty" boat is picking up or dropping off sailors on the pontoon which was attached to the middle pier. This was the main route for sailors heading for the Caley or the Royal or the NAAFI.
When the fleet was not in port the pontoon was the favourite fishing spot for locals. (Mainly cod & "flookies" (flatfish).

Oh, remember well fishing of the pontoon for flookies and cod and have been partial to them ever since. As we lived at harbour buildings, many's the time mum asked me to get some fish for tea.....ahh happy days.
