Comments:
The Highland Gatherings in the '50s were huge events with many bands and sports participants.
The Games always ended with a Royal Marine band "Beating the Retreat". Every time I hear the Last Post or the Evening Hymn played, it sends a shiver down my back as I remember these tunes echoing round the trees surounding the Grounds...and for a moment I am a wee boy in Invergordon once more..
