This is at the junction of the 'Bumpy Road' and the 'Concrete Road', by the Polish War Memorial. It's a shame that imperial distances are not given for us older generations, perhaps alongside the gaelic versions, but then 'miles' would have been given in gaelic (oh dear!).

I hear you Malcolm. Gaelic was not popular at all in and around Invergordon. How popular would it be today?. Is it taught in the schools?
Or is it to impress the tourist.

Gaelic appears on signs all over Scotland these days, even in parts where it has not been a living language for several generations. It does seem a bit daft as the language is simply not used by the vast majority. What are the chances of a Gaelic (only) speaker turning up in Invergordon and needing directions in his/her own language? I guess this fad is mainly a romantic fantasy that all Jocks are steeped in some long forgotten culture...a bit like Brigadoon!
