I was in invergordon at the time and saw her along with the home fleet

I remember her first visit to Invergordon in 1957.
As she appeared through the Sutors, a group of us were watching from the 1st pier and Teddy Aburrow commented that she looked top heavy...

I remember watching Britannia entering the firth from the North Sutor. but I'm not sure if it was this visit or a later one. I seem to remember that HM came out on deck as the ship passed.

According to the book 'Britain's Historic Ships' Britannia was handed over by the builders to the Admiralty on 11th January 1954 and for the next three weeks worked up on the Clyde then sailed for Invergordon and Rosyth for further trials. She left Rosyth on 15th February for Portsmouth. The first visit to Invergordon must therefore have been in the early days of February 1954.
