Falls of ShinPicture of Harry Dunn and Nan Birch (Dunn) taken at the Falls Of Shin. I do not know the exact date but it would have been in the 1950s. A trip to the falls was quite popular, it was quite rugged back then. I understand it is more commercialised now...

Yes Harry, the Falls of Shin now boasts a Harrods shop and a restaurant owned by Al Fayed.

When I first read your entry Catherine, I thought you were joking. But of course Al Fayed owns the Balnagown Estate and presumably the falls too. It's hard to imagine this isolated place being commercialised. When anyone came to visit us, the falls were one of the local "beauty spots" which had to be visited.

It is true, Billy. It is still very popular but very commercalised. At Christmas there is a day for switching on the lights by Al Fayed. I believe that the traffic stretches for miles then!I have been up twice in the summer and each time there were at least 4 touring coaches in the car park.
