From my father...not sure if this is the same family...but during our time in Invergordon the MacLeod's owned and operated a shoe shop.

This was my father, Nonie's shop. We sold toys, fancy goods, wallpaper, paints, everything but the kitchen sink, but not shoes. Billy Clark's shoeshop was across the lane, Davie Mackenzie's, Grocer next to that, and over the next lane was Urquhart's shoe shop.

Many hours were spent with my nose pressed against this window. Nonie's was the only proper toy shop in the town in the '50s. I particularly remember being taken there on my 13th birthday by my parents to buy me a present. They had forgotten the date and told me to choose whatever I wanted. I chose a football game called
"Wembley" and I still have it! The MacLeods lived in the house to the left of the shop.
