An interesting aerial view of the town, looking west. The hospital can be seen in the foreground and the properties on Satburn Road between the hospital entrance and Woodside Gardens have not yet been built.
The date of this picture is a guess, but it was taken after the Leisure Centre was built but before the Isobel Rhind Centre.
The size of the two tank farms is clear for all to see.

I notice there's a gap in one of the rows of oil tanks. I was once told one of them was bombed. Is this true?

Yes, it is true - have a look at picture #180 for more comments about this. It is hoped to have a picture of the tank, soon after it was bombed, shortly on the library.
