The A. N. Sign
The A.N. Sign at the West End beside the coal store was the airbase sign for Invergordon after the war. During the war the sign was Y.S. (can anyone remember a Y.S. sign?)
This is an enlargement of an aerial photo taken in 1947 by 58 Squadron (RAF).

i can remember playing on it it was next railway line which run in front of our house 8 shore road and airraid shelter what we used for storing wood and coal was still there when we left INVERG

Like Gordon I remember playing here at the AN..it was a metal frame with bars and what was left of electrical lighting and wiring. It was still there in early 50's along with some fencing and gates at the NW and East corners....we used climb and hang on it as kids..
