Disposition of the Fleet in October 1927This shows the moorings of the Fleet with the Battleships to the east of Invergordon and the Destroyers to the west. In the early 1950s this continued with Frigates on the buoys off Balblair (often in pairs) and the Cruisers and Aircraft Carriers to the east towards Cromarty.
This is taken from my father's Midshipman's log. Interestingly they cover almost his complete period in the Navy from going to Sea in 1926 until he retired as QHM Invergordon in 1958.
