To this day I can still hear the sound of Pandrops as they rolled down the steps of the gallery, which always brought about an appearance of the beadle...

How many dreary Sundays did I spend in here? I was made to go to Sunday school, I think, to get me out of the way, as religion was never mentioned at home. Munro Hill and I used to bunk off and play skittles round the back of the Playhouse. Sergeant McPhail used to take my class, I used to get him confused with the policeman in Oor Wullie as I thought he looked the same.
