This view is taken from just west of the cross-roads, facing east. King Street can be seen on the right, just beyond the person in white. The fountain, unveiled in 1904, is not visible to the left of the picture. If it is out of shot then the picture was taken post 1904; otherwise it was taken pre-1904.

I think that the shop on the right was called the London House, selling clothes. The trees look as if they have just been planted!
