The Invergordon Archive

This photograph was taken in 1953, the year of the Coronation.

Does anybody recognise the people in the photo? I'm the fourth from the right front row, Robert "Speedy" Hutton! The teacher was nicknamed "Jessie Jackets".

Top row, third left - Irene Krefta
Middle row, third left - Rosemary Ross
Middle row, fourth right - Marie Pearson
Front row, first and second right - twins, Bill and Sandy Thain

I am stsnding behind the teacher to the right and to my left is Wilma Munro and front left is John Ross. Second row second right is Margart Ross.

Back row 1st left Kathleen Fraser;
Middle row 2nd left Ruby Dunnet; middle row 3rd right Jean Fraser.

Middle Row, 5th left - Dorothy Krefta?

Middle Row, 5th right - Hilda Krefta?

Irene Krefta is the middle sister and in the back row - Hilda the eldest and Dorothy the youngest. Don't think either are in this photo. Dorothy was younger than me and I did not start school until 1955.

An afterthought. Saltburn Primary School classes went up to P4 and then pupils moved onto P5 at Invergordon Primary. I was fortunate to already know several girls from Invergordon through Highland Dancing but even although it was quite a big step moving from a small school where you knew everyone to a class bigger than all four Saltburn classes.

I remember we moved to Saltburn Road just before I started school and I thought I would go to Saltburn school but no I went to Invergordon much to my diappointment...Dorothy Krefta was in the same class as myself so likely born in 1953.
