Yes, I agree it's rather small, but take a look a picture #325. I may be wrong, but I think it shows the same boat.

This seems a little small to be a ferry, surely it's a fishing boat particularly wih a registration number like that?

Yes it does look like one and the same. Have a look at the Cromarty image library. There are some ferries on there too but none appear to have a registration number like this one. There are also a number of pictures of fishing boats of about the same vintage which look almost identical and have similar registration numbers. The slip way shown on the other picture seems a little elaborate for a little boat like this. It may be that he's the local entrepreneur and also takes paying customers or he may have just found a convenient place to get to and from his boat without getting his feet wet.
