You may be interested to know that this month, January 2018 is the 60th anniversary of the arrival of RTTL 2757 at RAF Alness and Invergordon. The craft has been featured in several articles in this Archive over the years and I hope it is appropriate to make mention of her again on this occasion.

Wow! The power of these boats. Occasionally I witnessed them start up and blast off in a cloud of exhaust smoke.The main contributor here is Brian Mutton who for a short time was the partner of my sister Audrey. I think in those days the airmen based at Alness were mainly National |Servicemen and probably enjoyed their posting to the Highland rescue base.Further West was another RAF base at Evanton, where my father worked for a time. I used to have a picture of my 5 year old self sitting in a Spitfire cockpit at Evanton...sadly now lost.

Does anyone know any info about my grandfather his name was either George Turton or George Taylor as he changed his name when he married...I know he was on the 2757 .. I'm covered in tattoos or the 2757 and would like to find as much as I can about the 2757

Hello Brian, 2757 is the ASR launch that I owe my life to. On the 1st March 1960 I was aboard a Hastings aircraft that ditched in the Indian Ocean on route to RAF Gan. The crew of 2757 that launched on that wicked night, in the middle of a tropical storm were very brave men! (All passengers aboard were saved due to their efforts and courage).
