The Invergordon Archive

Does anyone know if the remains of the crashed planes were removed or left? I vaguely remember there being wreckage of a smallish plane lying about low tide mark off the coast in Invergordon when I was about 7-8 years old (mid-1970s). It's now long gone, but I wonder does anyone else remember this?

At top left of picture, we see the concrete sea wall abutting the natural stone blocks of the pier with a grassy bank above. This leads me to believe the aircraft is lying on the west side of Belleport Pier.
Anyone else had thoughts on this one?

Think you may be correct Ron, too bad the picture doesn't show more of north end of pier and house and road would show. Is Belleport House still there?
Like others I am having difficulty with locations of some of those pictures, but they are great none the less.

Are you sure this is the beach at Invergordon? The only type of that plane I can remember being landed on the beach was on the east side of the slipway below the old toilets.
In answer to the question re wreckage being left on the beach, all the wrecked planes that were brought into the beach were all taken away on the old Queen Marys, the long trailers specially built for the carriage of dismantled aircraft.
