Battleship in the Floating DockA stern view of a battleship in the floating dock. The picture has been taken from inside the floating dock and shows a wealth of detail - even more in the 'Large Version'. Experts may be able to identify the ship - if not, her Class.

So Duncan, you're suggesting that this is HMS Malaya, which is whole lot more interesting! Perhaps a professional eye could confirm - if there is sufficient detail showing?

Malcolm I have a range of original Kodak glass plates in my possesion and this picture is one as is the one of Malaya in the Dock. I intend passing on these plates to the museum so hopefully it can all be verified as correct or discarded as incorrect information.

Sorry Duncan, I didn't understand that you knew this to be HMS Malaya. As I said, it's very interesting in that as she entered the floating dock from the east, and as the dock could not move much in its moorings, this superb picture must have been taken from the eastern end of the dock, looking west. From the shadows that can be seen, it is clear that the picture must have been taken early in the day (HMS Malaya was in for repairs following the Battle of Jutland in early June 1916) with the sun north of east.
